At Stella & Chewy’s, we’re committed to doing our part in protecting the earth and future of our pets. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Pet Sustainability Coalition to encourage the entire pet community to implement more sustainable business practices and do right by our planet.

About the Pet Sustainability Coalition

The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a more sustainable pet industry by helping businesses implement sustainability in their day-to-day operations via assessment tools, strategic support, accreditation, and educational events. PSC membership includes a community of more than 110 retailers, distributors, manufacturers, and brands, including Stella & Chewy’s! As PSC members, we have access to world class educational tools and resources, and we work with other PSC members to amplify the importance of sustainability within the pet industry. We’re proud to be at the forefront of innovative, sustainable business practices, and we encourage other organizations to do the same.

Pet Sustainability Coalition Goals

Good Health and Well-Being

Stella & Chewy’s strong results in the Good Health and Well-Being metric demonstrates commitment to the health and wellness of our employees and to the pets and pet parents we serve.

Safety and health are integrated into our overall management planning process. Employees are involved in safety planning, resource allocation, and audits. We have specific safety and health program goals and objectives, including specific indicators to measure progress. Our safety procedures are easily accessible for all on-site personnel, including workers, non-managerial staff, and visitors. We have a written safety and health policy to minimize on-the-job employee accidents and injuries, and we require our suppliers to disclose specified chemicals of concern. We also protect the health and wellness of our employees by providing health benefits, including mental health coverage, substance abuse counseling, pumping rooms for nursing mothers, and much more.

When it comes to pets and pet parents, we focus on health and safety through our nutrient-rich products which help ensure pets are receiving the appropriate levels of vitamins & minerals. We are also committed to responsibly sourcing our proteins and organic fruits and vegetables, meaning our products use less toxic chemicals than market alternatives.

Responsible Consumption and Production

Our high score in the Responsible Consumption and Production metric showcases our commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable packaging. We are committed to ensuring what goes in our products is responsibly sourced. For instance, our frozen and freeze-dried product lines use animal protein that is always free of any added hormones or antibiotics, cage-free poultry, grass-fed beef, wild-caught fish, and 100% certified organic fruits and vegetables.

We have also partnered with How2Recycle to engage consumers and help minimize the environmental footprint of our packaging. As a signatory of the Pet Sustainability Packaging Pledge, we are making a public commitment to develop a pathway towards more sustainable packaging across our portfolio by 2025.
