STELLA & CHEWY’S IS COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY
Stella & Chewy’s is committed to understanding and managing our social and environmental impact to do our part in caring for the future of our people, pets, and the planet.
Key To Our Values
One of our core values is RUN WITH THE PACK, emphasizing our belief that a pack is stronger when all its members work together. This principle is paramount as our industry continues to strive for more sustainable business practices because it will take all of us working together for significant change to happen at the pace that we need it to. We have partnered with the Pet Sustainability Coalition to ensure we are well-informed of the latest sustainability tools and resources to best push ourselves to continuously improve on our initiatives and encourage the entire industry to implement more sustainable business practices. It’ll take the whole pack, but we are stronger together.
We Are PSC Accredited
We understand the importance of measuring and improving our impact on the environment and communities we serve. We are proud to be a Pet Sustainability Coalition accredited business and are dedicated to annually assessing our performance against the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations
PSC Packaging Pledge
As a signatory of the Pet Sustainability Packaging Pledge, we are making a public commitment to develop a pathway towards more sustainable packaging across our portfolio by 2025
Limiting Food Waste
S&C takes measures to reduce food waste and prevent it from reaching landfills by donating excess product to animal shelters: 213,665 lbs donated in 2022
Thoughtful Sourcing
We are committed to ensuring what goes in our products is responsibly sourced. For instance, our frozen and freeze-dried product lines use animal protein that is always free of any added hormones or antibiotics, cage-free poultry, grass-fed beef, wild-caught fish, and 100% certified organic fruits and vegetables
How2Recycle Partners
The packaging for our Freeze-Dried Raw products can’t be recycled in your curbside recycling bins, but they can be recycled at local retail stores where they collect plastic grocery bags for recycling. Simply take your empty package to the nearest eligible retail store and drop it in the plastic bag recycling bin. Even if you purchased the packages online, you can still take them to any retail store with a plastic bag recycling bin.
How It Works
-
Curbside
Check with your municipality to determine which recycling numbers are accepted with curbside pickup. Our new packaging will be a recyclable #4 (LDPE) or recyclable #2 (HDPE)
-
Store Drop-Off
Packaging with the How2Recycle label can also be dropped off in select stores to be recycled. Under current circumstances with COVID-19, please continue to adhere to social distancing recommendations and hold onto your bags to drop off at a later time or see if your local store is collecting bags in an alternative way.
