Stella and Chewy, the inspirations for our brand, were both adopted as adult dogs. This prompted our passion for adult and senior pet adoption and we aim to raise awareness about the joys of older pet adoption through our Journey Home Fund. In November, Stella & Chewy’s covered more than $80,000 in adoption fees and helped 371 adult and senior pets find their forever homes in honor of National Adopt A Senior Pet Month. 11-year old Constance was one of these pets and we interviewed her new dad, Keenan:
Q: Where did you adopt Constance from and how did you end up finding her?
A: I saw the post [about Constance] on King’s Harvest Pet Rescue Facebook page when they received her in.

Q: Do you know Constance’s background?
A: Constance is an 11+ year old cat and was left outside by her previous owners for two winters. She arrived at the shelter from a concerned neighbor who brought her in because they didn’t think she would survive another winter outside. Upon intake, they found she was severely emaciated and matted so badly that she needed to be sedated and shaved.
Q: How has Constance settled into your home and become a part of your family?
A: Always taking cat naps in front of the wood stove, playing with her toys, begging to be fed, constant head bumps. She’s a happy cat.
Q: What makes Constance special?
A: She’s one tough puff. She has lived a long difficult life but still has a lot of love to give.
Q: What made you decide to adopt an older pet?
A: From my experiences, senior cats are a lot more cuddly!
Q: What advice would you give to others who may be hesitant to adopt an older animal?
A: Do it, you will not have any regrets!! Senior pets have a lot of affection to give and they deserve to spend their final years in a warm and loving home.
Thank you, Keenan, for opening your heart and home to a senior pet in need! Learn more about Journey Home Fund here.
